My tax return was accepted February 12, 2021, and still, nothing. There is no progress status, no bars, no estimated date, nothing. The only change is that, 9 weeks ago, it went from "STILL processing" to "processing". Topping it all off, I haven't received my child credit, despite having received a letter from them two months ago saying I didn't need to do anything. And the portal they set up to track and manage the child tax credit payments is broken. There is literally no way to get status on a single freaking thing, no matter if you're drowning.
My taxes have been approved since April 9 were is it

Approved and Accepted are totally separate actions by the IRS.
Accepted means the tax return has been received by the IRS. Approved means the IRS has processed the received tax return and has Approved a tax refund for the return received. The next action by the IRS after Approved would be to ISSUE the tax refund.
So, is the tax return Accepted or Approved?
Assuming you meant Accepted -
The IRS is seriously behind in processing 2020 tax returns. This is due to many factors, such as the pandemic, completing processing of millions of 2019 tax returns, stimulus payments, unemployment compensation exclusion tax refunds., changes in the tax code by Congress in the middle of the 2020 tax season and the like.
Millions of taxpayers have not yet received there federal tax refunds.
Go to this IRS website for operational status - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations-during-covid-19-mission-critical-functions-continue
As of July 9, 2021, we had 16.4 million unprocessed individual returns. Unprocessed individual returns include tax year 2020 returns such as those requiring correction to the Recovery Rebate Credit amount or validation of 2019 income used to figure the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Additional Child Tax Credit (ACTC). This work does not require us to correspond with taxpayers but does require special handling by an IRS employee so, in these instances, it is taking the IRS more than 21 days to issue any related refund and in some cases this work could take 90 to 120 days. If, as a result, a correction is made to any RRC, EITC or ACTC claimed on the return, the IRS will send taxpayers an explanation. Taxpayers are encouraged to continue to check Where’s My Refund? for their personalized refund status and can review Tax Season Refund Frequently Asked Questions.
What you should do: If you filed electronically and received an acknowledgement, you do not need to take any further action other than promptly responding to any requests for information. If you filed on paper, check Where’s my refund? If it tells you we have received your return or are processing or reviewing it, we are processing your return, but it may be under review. We’re working hard to get through the backlog. Please don’t file a second tax return or contact the IRS about the status of your return.
We filed in February. It is now August and no refund. The progress bars were halfway up in July but have gone back to zero.
Message: It isn’t processed yet.
Calling the IRS didn’t help either. They told me they aren’t allowed to tell a taxpayer if their return has problems. What?
I’m just supposed to be patient. They will only confirm that my return was accepted. So in my opinion, this year, looking online and calling are useless.
Almost to everybody that filed in February had to wait for their returns I had to wait 3 months I was in early filer I'm single or married filing joint to dependence earned income credit unemployment credit all that happy horse**bleep** and if **bleep**ed up because of the stimulus if you put on there in the wrong stimulus amount **bleep**ed up your stimulus amount and makes your tax return take even longer I don't know why you still don't have it but the status bars don't mean **bleep** order a transcript of your taxes you're probably getting audited or they're probably offsetting your money and taking it for unemployment if you had unemployment The only way to find out is when they **bleep**ing put the message up there for you They don't know anything more than we know when you call them They literally no horse**bleep** because it's all done by computer systems and the people that answer the phones have no access to the people that do the computer systems or use the computer systems So you can call them all day long and it won't do you any good I promise The best thing you can do is call the tax advocate service and tell them that your return hasn't even been processed yet and see if they'll take you last I knew they weren't taking anybody that was months ago because everything was all **bleep**ed up I can't believe you still haven't gotten yours probably 99% of us have gotten those already So unless you actually have some kind of fraud or old child support or someone is claiming unemployment in your name or you're being audited it shouldn't be taken this long Also there's still people waiting for their unemployment tax credit people like me who filed early and then had to wait for your 4 months to get our returns Our returns weren't correct anyway because they passed the law right after we filed our taxes saying that the first $10,200 unemployment was on taxable So far since I think June they've been working on the single filers and helping them get their money back So they're sending out more refunds for that they're still catching up on mailed out refunds plus people are still sending an amended returns even though they're not supposed to So it's further backing everything up The more you call you're just wasting your time there's really nothing you can do but keep checking where's my refund once it says a date on where's my refund you should be fine If it doesn't have a date you're probably getting audited you'll get a letter in the mail either way but the letters usually come 30 days after you get your money or don't get your money there's really nothing I could say to help you status bars don't mean **bleep** They literally don't it'll say processing still processing doesn't matter until it legit says tax ending. Blah blah blah when checking it from the website not the app the website it'll say taxpayering ending 2020 That's when you'll get paid like within a week of that appearing on there
Oh I didn't know they filed an amended return too They told you not to file amended returns They literally said do not file an admitted return If you're trying to claim the unemployment tax money you shouldn't have filed an amended return They told us to wait or to mail them in and it could take longer and longer and longer The reason why it was taking so long in the first place is because they were fixing all the new tax credits they got hit with Congress so you can think Congress for the delay in our taxes in the first place and then you can thank idiots that filed amended returns when they were told not to for the further delay. I filed early and I got my taxes about two and a half months later forget the exact dates I'm still waiting for my unemployment refund I was married filing joint so I was told that they were doing ours last and that they would be doing the single people first with the easiest tax returns well there was 5.6 million people that were getting that tax credit back and I would imagine a great percent of that at least 2/3 was fraudulent unemployment claims So that makes it take even longer So as long as you had a legit claim filing the amended return is what screwed you up I don't even know how you filed it because when I go to file it tells me I can't even e-file amended returns I had to print one out and use it for proof for unemployment of my wages from 2019 It wasn't even accepted by the IRS yet but I had to do it because they were trying to say that I didn't make enough money to qualify and try to hit me with an overpayment of $7,000 saying they gave me an extra $100 a week but if they had my actual week quarterly wages if I could show them proof of each quarter instead of them just splitting my net income in the four quarters and then dividing it by 26 I should have been getting the correct WBA which would be 305 a week They screwed me over PU.A is messed up I just got a phone hearing with them Sorry off topic there but if you have anything in an unemployment and child support and all that happy horse**bleep** if you had any fraud in your name or anything and you filed them in the return you're going to be waiting and waiting and waiting and likely waiting more. You could try and get a tax advocate but it's not going to help they're literally still backed up from 2019 I know because they have my 2019 return oh I still have my 2019 return sitting here waiting to be mailed out They told me I can't e-file it till January maybe February 2023
It was probably one of the stimulus credits. It was like something like over 75% of tax preparers like TurboTax included messed up and put the wrong amount in the area where it said that you got your stimulus checks or you didn't get your stimulus checks So they had to go through each individual return everyone's returns got sent to the ERS department which is a real department The only people tell you it's not real It's a computer department It's not an actual department where there's people that you can talk to everything is computer automated so they go through each and into a visual every return and make sure that you did get the credits or you didn't get the credits That's what the holdup was in the beginning You're thinking millions of people. Who got stimulus checks whose tax returns said they didn't or said they didn't get this one or didn't get that one or they did get them all and they said they didn't get them all cuz they thought they could double dip or they had access filing for each kid people filing for other kids people filing unemployment and their kids' names like things are really messed up this year and not to mention a big huge part of the unemployment was all fraud so all them people have to pay that money back so they're going through every individual return like looking at every single thing. And then people were told not to file amended returns to get the unemployment tax credit unemployment tax credit was $10,200 that was untaxable so they owe us back at least $1,200 could be more It could increase your income and make you eligible for other things like earn income credit or make your child tax credit higher things like that and certain states charge unemployment taxes I live in the state where they don't so I didn't have to worry about that but I still haven't gotten my unemployment tax credit back and I'm married filing joint with two dependents and we both had unemployment and we're both still waiting. Also the single filers I know that don't have children got theirs back already there was 5.6 million people and they said they were finishing off the .6 million people And that was at the end of June so I guess we'll see.. now that they're finding all this unemployment fraud and they're checking all the claims and shutting them off the IRS is taking the money from them So you'll never know what it is You can call the tax advocate service It's like a free advocate service they're like free lawyers to help you with taxes That's all you can do and they probably won't even help you because they gave up trying to help because they got flooded with millions of calls in the beginning It might be slowed down now though That's what I would do if I was you
And no the IRS is not going to acknowledge you what's going on They don't know anything The people you call on the phone cannot see more than you can see on where's my refund So they literally can't tell you anything until there's something found by the computer system that's showing them an error or that's showing them what the problem is They cannot tell you You can keep calling them and asking them every day if you want or you can just order your tax transcripts and check them You have to have a valid like real credit card to check your tax returns online otherwise you have to have a mail to you which further delays the IRS processes and returns because people are ordering millions of them sent to their houses and that between the earned income credit the unemployment and all that crap and the fraud it's just a nightmare So I wouldn't count on it anytime soon All you can do is sit and wait there is a tax advocate service you can call and ask them to look in your return they'll actually look into it and tell you if everything looks fine and they could tell you if they see a mistake but until the IRS acknowledges that mistake and says that they're going to do something about it which will show up on where's my refund or letter in the mail or on your tax transcripts there's also plenty of pages on Reddit and Facebook where you can find this information and they'll tell you how to read the tax transcripts
".....I know because they have my 2019 return oh I still have my 2019 return sitting here waiting to be mailed out They told me I can't e-file it till January maybe February 2023..."
You will never be able to e-file a 2019 return. E-filing for 2019 closed permanently on October 15, 2020. The only way to file a 2019 return is to print it, sign it and date it in ink and mail it.
If you have any other questions----please post them but use shorter sentences. Your post is very hard to follow because it just goes on and on.
You mentioned that you are waiting for the extra unemployment refund since you filed early.
The IRS is recalculating refunds for people whose AGI is $150K or below and who filed before the tax law that changed the amount of unemployment that is taxable on a federal return became effective.
The IRS began to send out the additional refund checks for tax withheld from unemployment in May. The refunds are being sent out in batches—starting with the simplest returns first. If you are eligible for the extra refund for federal tax that was withheld from your unemployment the IRS will be sending you an additional refund sometime during the next several months. TurboTax cannot track or predict when it will be sent. The IRS has not provided a way for you to track it, so all you can do is wait for the refund to arrive.
Please read this very recent news from the IRS:

Has anyone had there tax topic 152 just randomly disappear? If so what does that mean.
I was able to talk to someone if you call after 6:00 pm it just sucks because they get on the phone pretty rude just because they’re probably getting yelled at all day I couldn’t imagine having to work for the irs right now 🥺 but it took an hour on hold just to be told nothings wrong it’s processed just need to checkbook see if I finally have a date every day
Any one still waiting I still have had any changes and no mail....

If you don't get satisfactory information when you phone the IRS, you can try contacting the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service for your area. They are especially prone to help if you have an economic hardship, or if there have been continued delays with lack of info from the IRS. At the following IRS website, find the USA map and click on your state, and it will give you the number of your IRS Taxpayer Advocate. If the Taxpayer Advocate can't/won't help you, ask them to transfer you to an an IRS agent. A couple of users reported that at least for them, that was a backdoor route to the IRS.
