Tax Year Prior to 2020: I received cp09 notice

If you received CP09 notice means that you might be eligible for the earned income tax credit, but did not claim it on the tax return. Usually the IRS provides the earned income tax credit worksheet and form with the letter. Please fill it out, and follow the directions on how to submit it to the IRS along with any other documentation they are requesting.

If the worksheet isn't on page 3 of your CP09 Notice (or anywhere else in your letter), here is how you can contact the IRS for assistance with the worksheet they need you to fill out.

Tax Year Prior to 2020: I received cp09 notice

Received CP09 Feb. Filled it out and sent back on 24. When can I expect to hear back from IRS.

Tax Year Prior to 2020: I received cp09 notice

Per the IRS:

If I'm eligible for the credit, when will I receive my refund?

We’ll mail you a refund check in 6-8 weeks if you don’t owe tax or other debts we’re required to collect. If we deny the credit, we’ll send you a letter of explanation. If you don't hear from us after 8 weeks, you can call our toll-free line at 800-829-0922 to check the status.
