I'm lost after Amended my Federal return It says im getting 0 back now?

I have all but submitted my amendment. When I get to the payment option it says my debit card will be debited for the full amount. So am I expected to pay that amount upfront and then wait up to 106 weeks to get my original refund to offset the cost?

The amended return is no additional charge from TurboTax. If you are being asked to pay, that would be for an amount due on your amended return. Which it sounds like you are expecting a refund so please review your paperwork. Make sure column A actually matches your original return while column C is the correct number. Column B shows the changes.

My wife filed separately originally. We need to amend so we can file jointly. When she first filed she was getting a refund. When we amended and entered my tax information, we now owe. My question is, am I expected to pay the full amended amount now and then wait for the original refund to offset the money I am being asked to pay now?

You have two options:

• wait for the original return to be process and then file the amended form, the normal method
• pay for the amend now and wait for the original
