It depends. Typically, tax returns are either accepted or rejected within 24 to 48 hours of the submission. Check our E-File Status Lookup Tool or check IRS: Where's my refund? to get your current filing status.
For your state filing status:
The main IRS guidance states how the tax return was filed in 2018 or 2019 will determine the amount of the stimulus check. Since 2019 is filed, there is nothing more to do for the stimulus payment. However, I do recommend that you check the status of the return in the links above to make sure there is no problem with the submission.
You could still have a filing requirement if you received unemployment in 2018 greater than the standard deduction you would have received depending on your filing status ($12,200 for Single, $18,350 for Head of Household, $24,400 for Married Filing Jointly). If you do need to file for 2018, click How do I prepare a prior-year tax return? for more information.
We are still waiting for IRS guidance regarding updating or providing direct deposit information for the stimulus payments and how they will be distributed to these type of accounts. We will have more information once the government finalizes the details.
