I know about the backlog and processing delays.
I e-filed my taxes and they were accepted. I am due a refund.
So what do I for 2022 tax filing if 2021 is still not processed by then? File an extension and used best guess?
And if 2021 is still not processed by October 2023 -- then what?

You do not need to have the 2021 tax return processed and receive the tax refund to file a 2022 tax return. If you did not have any carryover amounts from the 2021 tax return then there is nothing on the 2022 return that you need from the 2021 return.
You can complete and file a 2022 tax return using your 2022 tax data just as you normally would.
If the 2021 tax return is still not processed by the time you are ready to e-file the 2022 tax return all you need to do is enter a 0 (zero) for the 2021 AGI so that you can e-file the 2022 return.

File your 2022 as you normally would do so provided your 2021 return was accepted.
Thank you! That answers it.
@prdfy If you have trouble e-filing 2022 -- and you might--- then use zero as your AGI when your are asked for your AGI.
