How do i find out if my 8379 was received by the IRS
If it went with the return ... check the status of the return ... if accepted then they have it.
If you mailed it in separately hopefully you put tracking on the envelope otherwise you will not know for sure.
Its been since May for me, received letter today stating they were so far behind for completing the 8379 forms and I should get check within three weeks, Don't know how true it is , at least I know they receive my 8379 form and they stated there is no need for me to complete another.
Think about this logically ... the 8379 usually takes 11 - 14 weeks (sometimes more) to process but this is not a usual year ... the IRS was closed for 4 months (or more in some offices) so 3 to 4 months + 4 months means you can expect that to take 7 to 8 months or more ... nothing you really can do but wait patiently while they plow thru the millions of envelopes that piled up during the shutdown.
I have sent 8379 forms in for 2017 & 2018. The first time in Feb.2020, May.2020 (was lost by UPS) and again in September. I have received a notice stating I didn't fill out allocations . I did and I think they lost part of my documents they actually got. So now 1 year later and the last set I sent FED EX and was signed and received--NO WORD. I have spend countless hours on hold. Why is there no way to send these electronically? Any advice here? This is significant for my daughter and I right now and to take over 1 year and them not see it was received? HELP! Do I send another set of forms 4th time?
The IRS does not receive all documents electronically. If they are asking them to be sent by regular mail, that is the only way they can be sent.
If you need to speak with the IRS, you can do so by clicking here.
I have done it all- But for the last year- regular mail, UPS and FED EX have sent what IRS needs from me. When I call, They don't have them.... Sending private information into a black hole!
