Hi all,
I filed my taxes via turbotax with estimation of 500$ refund.
Few month later, I get a letter from IRS with due of 3500$!!.
Is the problem is the fact that I forgot to send the W-2 form? is that make sense?
How do I fix it?
Should I send an amend with W-2 form to fix it?
New in the US and very confuesed by all this,
Thank you for your help,
Shani

There may be several issues. You say you are "new to the U.S." -- we do not know for sure because you have not told us your immigration status. But if you are a non-resident alien you should not have used TurboTax. If you are NRA you have to file on a 1040NR which is not supported by TurboTax.
And when you mail a tax return you are supposed to attach your W-2's or any 1099's that show tax withheld.
TurboTax never knows about letters sent to you by the IRS or the state. No information is provided to TurboTax after you filed your tax return. What exactly does the letter say? Is there a CP number or letter number up in the corner?
TurboTax does not receive any information from the IRS or your state after your return was filed, so no one at TurboTax knows about a letter you received from the IRS or the state.

AUDIT SUPPORT
TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS/state tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support. At the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support". Then it will ask you what tax year is your letter. Then it will ask you what the letter concerns. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.

Hi @xmasbaby0
Thank you so much for your detailed answer.
Just to make clear, I'm not excusing TurboTax just try to understand the problem.
I have 1 employee, and a very easy tax return and still something went wrong.
I'm on J-1 visa, 2019 is my fourth tax year (for me its still new..), I got CP11 from IRS. I will try to call them to get some help, hope it will clarify things.
My question was if missing the w-2 can cause so much difference in the amount due, trying to understand if that's was the problem.
Thanks again,
Shani
@shd2032 Not attaching the W-2 to the Form 1040 when you mailed it does not explain the discrepancy if you entered that income on your tax return. Something else is wrong. Did you enter some income incorrectly or leave out some income that was reported to the IRS by an employer? Read your CP11 letter carefully and seek help from Audit Support.
