Did you use desktop software to prepare, file, and check the status of your return?    If so, that link is not going to work for you.  The online and desktop program are not connected.

You said above that your software shows your return as ''accepted'' - what software is that?   If you see accepted, you are done with TurboTax.  If it is submitted or transmitted, that is not the same thing as Accepted.  It may have been rejected in which case you would still need to file.

As I stated above, if the software shows Accepted, no one at TurboTax can tell you anything more about your tax return.  Once accepted, only the IRS knows anything about your return.  You need 3 things to check the status at the IRS

  • Social security number or ITIN
  • Your filing status
  • Your exact refund amount

If you can not find any information on that website but your return shows Accepted, only an IRS will be able to tell you the status.  That would imply that the IRS has made a change so something is not matching in the database, but no one here at TurboTax or anyone in this forum will know why, unfortunately.

Also, if the return shows Accepted, it will be rejected if you attempt to file it again - so there is no harm in trying that.

You can check your e-file status by following the instructions below. This will let you know if your return has been accepted or not.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/return-status/help/how-do-i-check-my-e-file-status/00/25538

It can take anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks for the IRS to update. Until the IRS starts processing it on their own, you may not find record of it or the website may say that you have put in incorrect information when tracking your federal refund. As your return moves through the system, the status of it will be updated accordingly. Continue checking the Where’s My Federal Refund?  tool for updates. Updates are made daily, usually overnight.

It's now been 39 days since I e filed and received an email from TurboTax saying that my federal taxes were in process.  I just logged into the TurboTax website and found a page to check on my return. It says "You haven't filed your Turbo Tax yet.  Check back once you've filed your first tax return.  You'll be able to access all of your completed taxes."

My software says it was accepted.  My email says it's in process.  The IRS website says . .

check with your tax preparer or tax software provider; or

  • verify you received your electronically filed acknowledgement e-mail.

Based on the information you've shared, you have not e-filed your return. "In process" means that you are in the process of filling out your return. It doesn't mean that you've e-filed.

To e-file, you must go through all the filing steps by clicking File in the left menu bar in TurboTax Online. The final filing page has a big orange button on the bottom that says "Transmit my returns now". If you didn't click that button and you didn't receive a confirmation that your return was e-filed, you haven't e-filed.

This is a portion of the LAST email I received.  It sounds like I actually did transmit my federal taxes. This also looks like it came from TurboTax and not the IRS.  I'm afraid that resubmitting my return may cause a further problem but will do that if you think it is necessary. Thanks for your help on this.

Your hard work is about to pay off. In just 24 to 48 hours, you’ll receive an email letting you know if you’ve been accepted or rejected. (Longer for some states, if you filed a state return.) You’re now one step closer to getting your refund.
Next step: Keep an eye on your inbox.
Currently your e-file status is pending. We’ll send you an email the moment we know it’s changed.

Hi, I have received a notice of refund received, no notice of refund approved and it's been over 48 hrs on e file.

E-file status

IT'S BEEN 6 WEEKS.  I'd like to talk to a real person but will try  this again.

TurboTax sent me an email on March 27 saying that my 2018 Federal return was successfully transmited and was pending. I have heard NOTHING since then. The IRS shows NOTHING when I check "Where's my return?" I've been in communication with Gisele and Ebony on the public forum but their answers were not helpful possibly because I used the word "process" instead of "pending". Gisele seemed to think that I never transmitted my return. My email says I transmitted it. Can you find out if the IRS has my return or DO I NEED TO TRANSMIT MY RETURN AGAIN????? I've used TT for years and have never had this problem.  When I've had a problem in the past a Turbo Tax tech fixed it.

Assume you meant your 2019 Federal tax return and not "2018"

Sign onto your TurboTax online account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

The status of the federal tax return will be displayed.  What is the status?  If the status is Accepted then the federal tax return was e-filed and accepted/received by the IRS.

At this point, I suggest you reach out to one of our phone agents who can look in the e-File database for you to see if the return has been Accepted by the IRS or if there is some sort of issue.  You can reach them here: Contact TurboTax.

We need to get some personal information that is not safe to post on the public forum to look your status up.   Also, if there is any sort of issue, the phone agent will be able to assist you with that as well.

Yes, 2019 return.

I found a number for Intuit TT support and got an automated recording  -  not a real person - saying that my return was accepted by the IRS.    Still never got the second email saying that my return was accepted  which makes me wonder if it ever got there. I'm not worried about the refund - I know that the IRS is crazy busy. I just want to know that my return is at the IRS and not lost in cyberspace. I'll try again next week.

When I  go to "MyTurbotax.com and go to the bottom of the page where it says "Your tax returns and documents"   this is what I find :

You haven't filed your taxes with TurboTax yet.
Check back once you've filed your first tax return. You'll be able to access all of your completed returns here.

Yet my software says it's been accepted AND  I got the first email from TT saying that it was successfully transmitted.  My problem is not that the IRS is overwhelmed, it is that Turbo Tax is telling me 2 opposite things.  I have checked Where's my Refund 3 dozen times and there is NO info, just the following:
We cannot provide any information about your refund. Be sure to:
  • verify your filing date;
  • check with your tax preparer or tax software provider; or
  • verify you received your electronically filed acknowledgement e-mail.
SHOULD I REFILE?????   or do I continue to wait.
Another question about that page - it says all my completed returns can be accessed there.  Does that mean past years - I've used TT for a decade and none of my completed returns are there.

Thanks, DawnC.

I just found most of my tax refund today in my bank account.  I took 9 weeks and was short by $14.77 but I can finally file all my paperwork.  Thanks for your help.

my federal and state were denied because of the IP pin, which I checked and is the correct IP pin that the IRS sent me for Mark, so I filed again with the same pin, why would it be denied?
