Yes, you can E-file an amended 2024 tax return in TurboTax, provided you originally prepared it with us.
Ok. The software (desktop version) flat out won't let me. It says that amended returns could only be e-filed in 2025 at the latest for 2024. Is there a workaround for this?
TurboTax Desktop for prior years does not support E-file for amendments. You will need to print and mail your amended return per the instructions included when you print your return.
Print, sign and date the amended return in ink, and file it by mail.
Use a mailing service like certified mail to track so you will know it was received since you will have a long wait.
Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

That's great. So I'll just need to spend ~$200 to send the paperwork back because I'm currently living in Denmark. Guess I'll be giving HR Block a try for 2025.
Not sure why you think it will be so costly to mail the amended return. You only mail the 1040X, the documents such as additional W-2's or 1099's that support the change, and possibly the original 1040. When you choose to print for filing by mail, it will print out just the pages needed to send in. You will not be mailing in all kinds of worksheets, etc.
I went through the whole amended return in the desktop software and it came out to 92 pages for both the federal and CA state returns. Unfortunately, trump's made the customs agency so difficult to deal with that the national postal service in Denmark has stopped accepting deliveries of every kind to the US. So to ship 2 documents totalling 92 pages using private companies to two different locations in the US would be ridiculously expensive.
