I am concerned about getting my Stimulus Payment from the IRS using our Direct Deposit information we used on our 2019 Tax Return because we had to close that Bank Account after we received our 2019 Refund since it had become compromised. Now, I wonder if there is a way to update our Direct Deposit Bank Account Information before the IRS sends the funds because I know that I can't update the info once it has been filed. Will the IRS give us an opportunity to choose how we get the money (ie to use our Direct Deposit info from 2019 Tax Return or Mail a Check to our Address) and update that info or not before they just send it?
Does anyone know what can we do? I can not get through to the IRS to even ask the question.
That error could delay us getting our money for weeks, maybe months!

We understand your concerns. Details for anticipated stimulus check are still being worked out by the government at this time. We do not have information on how or if you will be able to update direct deposit information for the IRS. Once things are finalized we will be able to provide more guidance. You can also stay updated by checking back on the following links.

If the DD information is no longer valid then the IRS will mail a check to the address on the last filed return. If that is incorrect then mail in a form 8822 now to update your address with the IRS ... they will NOT mail out any notices before they mail out the checks.
(Can you imagine the logistical nightmare that would be ... mailing out and waiting for a response from 200+ million people BEFORE sending out the checks AND doing this all in 3 - 4 weeks ???)
Thanks for your reply. I get it and wasn't really expecting that. Just thought they might have something they could send out electronically to reply to to confirm info that was going to be direct deposited like the response communications you get back when e-filed and they approved them. Just wishful thinking I guess. So now they will probably try to send it to direct deposit and then it will have to be rejected and will float around in their system for a long time before it will switch to sending a check to our current address and may be a very long time now before we get it, even longer than if they just didn't even try to send it thru direct deposit first.
