Using TurboTax Premier . How can I check the e-file status if I no longer have the computer the software was installed on? IRS stated the return was not received via e-file

When you use desktop software you can check your e-file status from within the software on your own computer. For some reason you chose to un-install the software or do not have the computer, so you cannot check it that way. All you can do at this point is check the IRS site and see if the refund site shows that they are processing your tax return. Unfortunately, even that site has been somewhat erratic this year, so you might not see any information.
Did you receive email after you filed your tax return?
Did you e-file? Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
If the IRS accepted it, what does it say here?
Do you still have the program you can install on a new computer? Either the CD or you can download it again. Do you have your tax return saved like a backup? You need the file ending in .tax2020 to open in the program.
If you have the tax file and can install the program you have to check the filing status inside the program. Open your return and go up to menu item
File > Electronic Filing > Check Electronic Filing Status
I have the program installed. Unfortunately it looks like the back up file is not working.
