Apply ITIN for my wife. How long will it take ?

Hello Sir, how did you do to contact the IRS ? When i call the robot does not give me any option related to the itin and if i choose another one they'll never answer.. Irs received my paperwork on april 21 and i'm still waiting. thank you!

And you will wait longer since they are way behind in processing ITIN's and returns  so if you correctly sent the return with the W-7 to the processing address for the W-7 then all you can do is wait since getting thru to the IRS is on the phone is nearly impossible.

How do you speak to a live person at the IRS?

The IRS telephone number is [phone number removed].

The first question the automated system will ask you is to choose your language.

Once you’ve set your language, do NOT choose Option 1 (regarding refund info). Choose option 2 for “Personal Income Tax” instead.

Next, press 1 for “form, tax history, or payment”.

Next, press 3 “for all other questions.”

Next, press 2 “for all other questions.”

When the system asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, do NOT enter anything.

After it asks twice, you will be prompted with another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.

Finally, press 4 for all other inquiries. The system should then transfer you to an agent

4. ITIN Application REJECTED - You did not send us Passport by May 27 deadline - June 17

5. Spoke to IRS agent about my case - June 21

6.  ITIN issued - July 2nd

7. Passport Return - Pending

Still waiting for my taxes to be processed. It's been a frustrating year of waiting. Next - waiting for my refund.

My application was delivered on 4/7 and today I got a letter asking for identifying the foreign status.

I have included the original passport in my application.

Why are they ask for the extra documents?

I try to call but wait for a long long time (over an hour) without getting a representative. 

Did they lose my passport?

All you can do is call the number on the notice ... try right before 7 am your time.

Finally got a representative to pick up my call. Worse news is that they did not have the passport in record.

However, I have sent the original passport with the application forms. So frustrated on how they handle our documents.

Yes, they lost my wife passport. They asked us to reply them by mail on requesting them to find it.

Did you hear anything about your refund ? My wife's ITIN was issued on June 4th, still refund is not even in the system yet.

I still waiting for the ITIN number I called today and they asked me to wait until the end of this month
