Will I still get direct deposit after amending my tax return?

I had checked the status of Amended return and it said it was result in a refund and you should have received your refund in your account I haven't received no refund in my account so I'm trying to figure out where's my amended return refund

Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return.  During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six months or more for many amended returns.  Do not expect quick results from amending.  When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check.  They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns.  You can watch for information here:

@Shemeka863 Keep watching your mailbox.   The IRS does not make direct deposits for refunds from amended returns.   They will only mail you a check.   It will come by first class mail without tracking.  Make sure you open all mail--do not assume anything is junk mail without opening it.

Is this true even if I chose to have the amended return directly deposited, on the turbo tax site, where I efiled my amended return? I'm only asking because turbo tax allowed me to choose an account to have the amended return direct deposited into and now that account is closed. I'm wondering now what will happen if they try to send it to that account?

No I have not. I’ve also been trying to call them but they’ve been too busy so I haven’t been able to get through either. It just hangs up on me and states that the call volume is too high.

So that is just not true…. You can file your amended return electronically I just did and it was accepted the same day that being said my STATE is PA…. Now my Federal Amended return will be a paper check. They have already issued my state return wich would have been via direct deposit but I owed the state some money so of course they got that annnnnnd I received a confirmation that they have but here I am waiting for the remainder of that state return and of course the federal big one is a check so that will be another 4 weeks I would say I filed March 3rd was accepted the 4th so I have to say your response is wrong maybe due to whatever state your in it is different

@Christoper123 Not sure what you are saying is untrue.  This is an old thread with multiple posts from multiple users.  The last activity here was in 2022.
