I'm doing my taxes on turbotax premier 2018... i'm entering rental expenses.... each screen says its showing my expenses from 2016 and asking me to enter 2017 expenses. Shouldn't it be asking for 2018 expenses???

That is a known bug. They are working to fix it. Only the heading display is wrong. The amounts and calculations are right.

does anybody else feel uneasy that it is 2020 and the "BUG" is still there?
it is may 2020, i started a new return, hoping that it will be for the 2019.
the form asked me if i wanted to bring the info up from previous year, and I accepted. That did not work! it kept asking me to login, bringing me in a circular loop until i got frustrated and gave up.
so, i started from scratch, entering all the presonal data, to realize that at the top it kept asking me for 2018 data.
WTF?
@disgruntled Please explain more. Are you using the Desktop installed program? Sounds like you started the 2018 program. Did you buy and install 2019? It would have needed a License Code to activate it. Go up to Help-About.
