I had e-filed my return with an error and IRS has accepted it on 5/9/21. However, I still didn't get my refund. Today I realized that I claimed a credit for which I am not eligible ( EV lease, fed tax credit only for purchase, I thought I answered Turbotax interview questions correctly) and I need file an amended return. When is the right time to file 1040-x? Should I file immediately or wait for IRS to either give my refund or ask a question? Even the help from Turbotax on this topic is not very clear.
Any help will be appreciated greatly. Thanks in advance.

If you efiled the original return with TT then you probably will be able to also efile the amended return but Do NOT file the amended return until the original return is fully processed.
An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 16 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.
Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.
See this TurboTax support FAQ on amending a tax return originally completed and filed using the 2020 TurboTax editions - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-do-i-amend-my-return/01/27439
Thanks for a very quick response.
You say that "An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 16 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return."
However, I have e-filed my original return, so what are my options?

wait. this may be an error the IRS catches because the lessor may also have claimed the credit.
OK. Any case I have decided to call the IRS on Monday and keep on trying until I get to them and ask for advice on what should be done.
Thanks
