2022 IRS and State tax payments were never deducted from the bank account I arranged through Turbotax for epayments (account number and routing information is correct - triple checked on my return). Received an letter from IRS stating: "No account/unable to locate account" - a call to IRS confirmed that they requested $$ and payment was unable to be processed. Calls to my state tax board indicate the same. I have now had to pay penalties and interest for what seems to be a Turbotax error. Is there anything that TurboTax can do to prevent this issue going forward? Is there any recourse for me? How do I determine if this was an error made by Turbotax?

This is not a TT error ... they only forward the information you entered into the program to the taxing authorities and they are the ones who tried to initiate the payments and failed. Review what you entered in the program and confirm with your bank the correct debit information you needed to use so you get it correct in the future.
Most likely you used the incorrect routing number and/or an incomplete account number.
How do I review the method I chose to pay my federal income tax with, after filing with TurboTax Online?
You can verify the tax payment method you chose on the Electronic Filing Instructions for your 2021 Federal Tax Return page, next to Balance Due/Refund. To see the page, follow these instructions:

Your own calls to IRS and state indicate that they tried....which means that they had the numbers you provided. Thus, TTX did include them.
But, what went wrong?
1) Check with your bank, as some banks use a special routing number for electronic DDebits or DDeposits, and do Not use the routing number on your checks. BofA was the major bank that did that for some accounts, but there are likely others
2) Hope it was your account...banks reject debits if the account names don't match.
Or a recently married person with a name change not yet implemented at the Bank?
I made the same mistake. How do I get the IRS the correct information? Will I have to pay a penalty?
You need to pay it yourself now. Pay the IRS directly at
Check with your bank to be sure you have the right routing number and account number. Some banks use different numbers for deposits and payments.
