A direct deposit of a tax refund can only be deposited in a US bank located in the US. If you do not have a US bank account then you can only receive the tax refund as a check mailed to the address on your tax return.
So only the US Govt can has the ability to wire funds directly to my account? No other organization can do this? If the stimulus money is coming from the US Govt and they are using the IRS to disburse the funds what is the difference between stimulus money and Soc Sec money? Is this a mandated law?
Although the SS administration would like for payments to happen by DD if you don't have a US bank account then a paper check would need to be mailed to you. You could open a US bank account and/or a US based debit card from which you could transfer funds to the foreign bank.
