My return is showing as having "already been filed". NOT TRUE!

You can check the status of your return once you submit it in Tax Home screen of TurboTax Online. 

If you used TurboTax Desktop, select File, then select Check E-file status.

Once if gets accepted, you can visit the IRS Where's My Refund? Site to check if your e-filed return has been received.

Did your efile reject because it was already filed or had a duplicate ssn on it?
