You should receive a SSA-1099 for your Social security income.
If Social Security income is the only income
you earned in 2016, it is not taxable or reportable, and you need not file a
tax return.
If you received other taxable income, you may
need to file a return and include your Social Security income.

If you received an inheritance
(including cash, stocks, and real estate) is not taxable or reportable on a
personal1040 federal return. However, any income earned from an inheritance
such as interest, dividends, rent) or capital gains will be taxable.
