What code is in box 7 on the 1099-R?

What is in box 2a?
Federal income taxes withheld from the distribution are shown in box 4 of the Form 1099-R. The taxes withheld are reported on the Form 1040 as a tax payment and entered on Line 64 of the Form 1040 or Form 1040A Line 40,
On the Form 1099-R is there an amount shown in box 2a? Is that amount entered on the Form 1040 Line 15b or 16b or Form 1040A Line 11b or 12b? What is the distribution code entered in box 7 of the 1099-R? Is the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box check on the 1099-R? Are there any boxes checked in 2b of the 1099-R?
Box 7 has a 1, box 15a is correct, box 15b is not, it's got tax withheld from box 4 of the 1099R.
2a is the distribution amount which is correct. and simple was checked. Box 7 has a coded 1. Box 4 is tax withheld which is what is showing up on line 15 on the 1040.
You need to review the actual TurboTax Form 1099-R worksheet to see what is reported in box 2a and in box 4 of the worksheet. The worksheet will show what was actually entered into the software for the 1099-R.
If you used the TurboTax 2017 online editions and have not download the 2017 PDF then follow this procedure -
To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)
If you used the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions and did not save the 2017 PDF to include all forms and worksheets, then you will need to start the 2017 program on your computer and Continue the 2017 tax return. Then click on Forms to access Forms mode. On the left side of the screen when in Forms mode will be a list of all the forms, schedules and worksheets for your tax return. Click on the Form 1099-R listed to open the worksheet.
