Mortgage interest is an itemized deduction. If the total of your itemized deductions is not more than your standard deduction, you will not see any change. Once the total of your itemized deductions ( mortgage interest, property taxes, medical expenses, miscellaneous, etc.) surpass your standard, you will start to see your refund amount change.
There is a plus side; at least you know that you do not have to do an amendment.
