July child tax credits but no refund?

I see they will be starting the extra child tax credit this month soon which we qualify for. I still haven't gotten my refund though. We filed in february. The IRS tools says "Your tax return is still being processed" and "A refund date will be provided when available". Will I start receiving child tax credit payments before I even get my main refund or will everything be held up until the process my return?
