I received a letter saying I had to verify and after I did that I was told it could take up to 9 weeks which blew my mind. Sonce then I've been checking the site everyday but all it keeps saying is that its still being processed an for the life of me I can not figure out why. I am so frustrated at this point I'm not sure what to do

    I know it is extremely frustrating waiting on the IRS to get your refund processed after you have verified your information. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do but wait. The other taxpayers in your position have posted here saying it has been an average of 5-6 weeks for them to get the refund, some longer. Keep checking the wheres my refund site to see if any information has changed.

    I received the 9001 code when I first called about it they told me they had 2 different refunds wit my ss# wth then the guy transferred me to someone else and she told me I just needed to verify my identity but I had to wait to receive the letter from IRS so I can tell them what the letter say  21 days up no letter wth so I stayed patient I received my letter today so I called again what they wanted me to do was verify my mothers maiden name previous tax year and this year return then they said it will take 2 to 9 weeks wth they say they tell people 9 weeks because they are backed up because of the government shut down but it’s very possible they can get to it sooner and she gave me a number to an advocate if I wanted to go that rout but if I do it’s out of IRS hands and it can be done faster or take longer so on that part I don’t know if I should wait it out or get the advocate I just want my money to pay my dam bills just give it here so I can give it away

    So my question would be what do you guys think is the best choice

    I got a letter yesterday dated 8/12 saying it will be another 4-6 weeks. If we still have to wait then what's the use in having turbo tax take almost 200.00 out of my account to file. They got paid for nothing and they didn't wait for my refund likes that said, they drafted it from my account and overdrew it.

    @mayberrygail

    When you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund you signed an agreement that said TT could take its fees from your account if it took too long for the IRS to issue your refund.  You could avoid that by paying TurboTax upfront with a credit card when you file and then you would also avoid the extra refund processing fee of $39.99  ($44.99 in CA

    TURBOTAX TOOK MONEY OUT OF MY BANK ACCOUNT

    Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund?  Is your refund taking an unusually long time to arrive?  if so, you signed an agreement that says TT can withdraw its fees from your account.  TurboTax would have sent several emails to you before they took the money out of your account.

    Hi. My name is Lestina. Can you tell me what you did because it's been 5 weeks since my Verification and I still have not seen any of my tax money. And I just lost my job, so I could really use the extra help.

    Not sure why irs have you verifying your identity on such a simple return just to make you wait on hold for hours to say your name and verify amount of Agi and refund amount then after all that you wait 9 weeks. Not sure if it’s a protection against fraud but def an inconvenience

    @Sheriseking-1005

    I HAVE TO VERIFY MY IDENTITY

    Sometimes the IRS chooses returns randomly to request verification of identity and sometimes there is something on the return that triggers the request.  No matter why the IRS has required you to verify your identity, you need to follow their instructions in order to receive your refund.  If you do not verify your identity you will not get your refund.
