What computation mistake was made for your child and dependent care credit on Form 2441? What happened?
Turbo Tax is a self prepared return. It has no way of knowing or checking that you entered something wrong or in the wrong place or entered something twice Or left something out. It doesn't check against any outside sources. The IRS has copies of all the W2s and 1099s your employer and banks/brokers, etc. sent in to match against. Turbo Tax only checks the calculations of what you entered. It is your responsibility to check it over before you file. They only Guarantee that the calculations are right based on the entries you made.
the IRS charged me $260.00 for an error on my Form 2441. The reason they cited was one of the following: computation of the credit on Form 2441 or/and transfer of the amount on my taxes return. My calculations for my adjusted gross income, line 8b and Taxable income, line 11b are the same as the IRS's, except for the total tax line 16.
The IRS changed the amount I claimed as credit and dependent care expense because they said there was an error on my Form 2441. The error was one of the following: computation of the credit on form 2441 and/or transfer of the amount to your tax return. My calculations for my adjusted gross income line 8b and the taxable income line 11b are the same as the IRS's except for the total tax line 16.
if a Turbotax comp error they only pay the penalties and interest. you pay the taxes.
we can't see any of the documents or your return. so there is no way for us to tell who made the error. it could even be the IRS computers.
