Hello - I’m trying to contact anyone at TurboTax again after recently waiting to speak to one of its Tax Practitioners via the customer service line regarding my 2019 Federal Return. The individual in the customer service department put me on hold and never came back.
I processed and transmitted my Federal return on 25 Feb 2020, which determined that I owed the IRS $750. It was accepted. I then submitted an online payment to the IRS for $750 on 10 April 2020.
However on 3 August 2020, I received a check ($759.20) from IRS with no explanation. It was the $750 plus $9.20 interest.
Is something wrong with my return? Did the system properly process it? I’ve used TurboTax for several years and never had a problem.
Please advise. Thanks.

First explanation letters are very SLOW to come out this year however the usual error comes from making estimated payments for 2019 and/or applying the 2018 refund to 2019 estimates and forgetting about it so your return was short and you made a payment you did not need to make and the IRS sent it back with some interest .... so review your records ... did you make such an error ?
@Critter-3 I don't think it could be those reasons. Mainly because it's for the exact same amount as the tax due. The same amount would only be for the other way....if you had a refund because you entered an estimated payment or extension or applied last years refund when you didn't.
It could be you made an online payment but put down your bank info for the IRS to pull it out. See if you have 2 payments coming out of your credit card or bank account.
