I filed my 2023 taxes with TurboTax online, received a copy of my tax return, a payment confirmation email and an email confirming my taxes were filed. I owed money on my taxes in 2023 and paid this to TurboTax. I logged on this year to file my 2024 taxes and TurboTax is not showing any record of my 2023 taxes ever being filed. I checked with the IRS and they have no records either. I am currently in the process of buying a home in which I need to provide 2 years of tax returns for. I could potentially lose out on being approved for a loan now. This is a total nightmare. Thanks TurboTax.

I only have one account. The account shows proof of my 2023 TurboTax order but not my returns. Again, IRS has no record of my return.
Thanks,
Victoria
How did you pay the tax due to Turbo Tax? Your only proof of payment is your bank statement or credit card showing the payment coming out. Turbo Tax only passes your bank account number to the IRS or state for them to take it out of your account. And the IRS or state does not update Turbo Tax when or if they get your payment. A payment confirmation from Turbo Tax would only be for the Turbo Tax fees.
When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.
When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say?
When you printed your return, there should be a cover sheet saying how you filed and how you paid the tax due.
I paid for the TurboTax fees. There is no status, it says nothing. TurboTax has no record of me ever filing my 2023 taxes with them, and neither does the IRS. At the end of the day I paid for the services and TurboTax lost my records and never submitted to the IRS.
I have a copy of the return I printed after filing with the cover letter showing proof of payment.
