IRS sent a letter saying that there is an amount on 1040 line 7 and that a Schedule D is missing from 2021 tax return. They are asking for the form. No problem, I'll send.
But...
TT has checked the box on line 7 saying that I don't need to file a Schedule D and I can NOT uncheck it.
We had a 1099-DIV with a number in box 2a indicating there is a capital gain distribution.
I am going to send the IRS the Schedule D, but I don't understand why TT did not generate it automatically when I first filed.
Can anybody from TT (or an expert here) explain please? Don't want this to happen again.
Thank you!

It is the IRS that is not noticing the checkmark that says the form is not needed.
Did you file on paper? The person who entered your tax return missed it.
