You have to wait for the IRS to finish processing your return. Then, IF NEEDED, file an amended return. If changing the answer would result in a refund then it's up to you to decide if you want to amend. On the other hand, if it would result in you owing then you probably should amend. But this, in my judgment, depends on how much. A few $s or a lot more. There is also the possibility that the IRS, based on the documents it receives, will know there's an issue with your return and send you a notice before it will complete processing. In this case, you need to promptly respond to the notice. Finally, there are many questions Turbotax asks that do not affect your return and would result in no fines or penalties for answering incorrectly. So we would need to know the question and tax year.
BUT...are you talking about:
1) a 2022 tax filing that is "In Progress" at the IRS?
or
2) a 2023 tax filing that you are just now starting the process of preparing using the "Online" 2023 software?
________
If you are actually talking about situation #2....then you will be able to go back and change that answer......but, for the moment, it might depend on how far you've gone into the Q&A so far.....and then exactly what Q you answered Yes to instead of No.
