I was granted an extension until 01/31/18 for my 2016 return because of Hurricane Irma. Now I can't file it through Turbo Tax. Is my only option to mail and print?

E-filing a 2016 tax return was closed in mid-October.  A 2016 tax return can only be printed and mailed.

 Online preparation and e-filing for 2016 is permanently closed.  You have to download 2016 software and then print, sign and mail your return.  If you already paid for your TurboTax software, you can contact customer support to push a download of the software to you.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return.

I am having the worst issue with this site . My husband filed an extension - then due to the hurricane - we had until Jan. 31. I see no way to access the 2016 return he had started. I see it under the documents - it keeps saying we need to pay - but I see no way to pay for the 2016- it keeps wanting me to pay for a 2017
