I used the non-filer portal so i couldnt file electronically. I mailed a paper return on 7/15 but i didn’t know to write ‘Amended EIP return’ on the top. I can’t see any status

The IRS was not processing any paper tax returns for several months due to the pandemic and limited staffing.  They have only just recently started to process the approximately 11 million paper tax returns as they were received.
