I went on February 28,2018 to verify my identity. Why would it take 6-9 weeks to receive my refund?

This is ridiculous.i havent done anything diffrent except had a baby whom has a social and my name why the **** would they flag. I dont understand every year the same thing im low income 20k a year with 2 kids aint nothing like go waste your time with someone who gets something i rely on this for sons school clothes supplies etc .. Its not like i get a whole lot back jeez louis

Last year i got my letter beforwe 21 days of filing i went in amd verified it took about 7 to 10 days total to get my refund.
 This year idk it took them 2 attempts after a month and a half to even send verification letter (i got both the original amd duplicate i called for after 14 days of not getting ORIGINAL the same day funny how that worked right?)  I verified thru phone this year on monday the 19. And not an update yet.still processing

I filed January 29, had to verify February 21, now another letter CP05, March 19. So who really knows how long now. They say up to 60 days from March 19

@zed1011  heres what it means they have processed and something didnt add up you are being put under review

We’re reviewing your tax return.
We sent you this notice because we’re reviewing your tax return to verify:

The income you reported on your return
The income tax withholding amounts you reported on your return
The claims for tax credits you made on your return
The withholding claimed on your Social Security benefits
The household help you claimed

So its a type of audit not a major audit but they aresending to diffrent department to investigate

I called yesterday, the dude I spoke to said everything was good, don’t see an issue. But looking at it because my refund is more than last year

Yea income increase but that doesnt sound drastic enough to catch review for now if you jumped 20k from last year sure but a couple houndred thats messed up

Totally messed up!! The guy said he’s not even sure why this is even happening, he said for some reason it’s happening to a lot of people.
