Turbotax deleted the last 3 digits from my bank account number! I know it was entered correctly! Is this a known glitch? No wonder I have never received my refund or my state property tax credit.
I have used Turbotax for years and never had any problem before. This needs to be addressed or there will be many people no longer using Turbotax.
The program is 100% reliant on the user data entry so it cannot simply leave off any digits on it's own so did you return to the entry screen to see what you entered ? The program allows 17 digits ... was your bank account number longer ? If so are you sure you have the right number for direct deposit ? Did you check with your bank ?
NOTE: When you open your return back up, do not make any changes in it if it's already been filed. If you later have to amend the return, it has to start off exactly as it was when it was originally filed.
NOTE: Remember all PDF tax documents and tax data files are very sensitive files, since they contain your personal ID info, financial data, and possibly bank account numbers, etc. Be sure to store them safely and securely to guard against computer theft, hacking, etc.
I use the desktop (Mac) version of Turbotax and KNOW I entered the correct numbers. I've been using TurboTax for many, many years. My bank account number is 12 digits. Only 9 show up.
Yes, I have checked with the bank. If more than 1 digit is off of an account number their ACH system will not accept it. So it's in IRS limbo somewhere.
I know this is old but just read it. Actually it is your fault, even if something is automatically put in you're supposed to check it period. Sometimes something really sensitive like a banking number, is missing a number for your protection. At the end when it told you to look over everything you've done before u submit. That was the opportunity to click and check those numbers, hey that is like one of the most important part of filing. Better luck next year!
I set up to have direct deposit. It is the same account I have used for the last 12 years. I triple checked the account and routing numbers not only in TurboTax but on the pdf version as well. I made sure I was choosing direct deposit ( same as I do every year) Everything was fine. I filed federal and state together and my state refund was direct deposited with no issue how ever my federal says it will be a check mailed to me. I do not have multiple returns being deposited into the account. My name is in the account, I am the only owner of the account. I know that nothing will change and the check will come but I want to know why this as changed. It makes me not trust the system. Why is state direct deposited while federal is not when both were filed together with turbotax.
@Mic2224 If the IRS is not able to deposit your refund into your bank account for any reason, the IRS will mail you a check instead.
Sometimes the routing or bank account number is wrong, invalid, missing one digit, or if the name is not exact as the bank account, this can cause rejection of the deposit.
The IRS states a mailed check should take no longer than 3 weeks to arrive.

This is a question only the IRS can answer and good luck getting thru to them. They can for any reason they wish to send a paper check ... the DD was only a request they can honor and not a demand they must follow.
Hi,
I had set up direct deposit for my tax return as I have every year, for years now. The bank decides to close my account two days before the tax return came in and won’t open it back up. Today the tax return tried to go to that account and it got kicked back and is pending to be returned back to IRS how long will it take for me to get my tax return in the mail now ?
The IRS does not list a specific time frame for mailing paper checks after the bank rejects the deposit. Typically you should receive it within three weeks, however, it may take longer due to the IRS backlog. For more information, please see this IRS FAQ for more information.
@Juliefinley81
I had to do I D me now maybe that's why I get a check
Last year and this year I got my refunds in the mail instead of direct deposit, nothing changed, I verified my routing # and acct #'s all is correct on my forms.
