Sorry----in order to qualify for stimulus payments the child had to have a Social Security number. If your children had an ITIN then you do not get the stimulus amounts for them nor do you get the child tax credit. With an ITIN, they are only eligible for the $500 credit for other dependents and you needed to use that number at the time that you filed the tax return. The IRS does not let you amend to add a Social Security number or ITIN to get more credits.
To be eligible for the Economic Impact Payments a valid Social Security Number (valid for employment) must have been issued by the due date of the 2020 tax return for EIP1 and EIP2 and by the due date of the 2021 tax return for EIP3. Since no SSN has been issued they are not eligible for any EIP.
To be eligible for the 2021 Child Tax Credit the child must have a SSN (valid for employment) issued before the due date of the 2021 tax return. Since no SSN has been issued they are not eligible for the Child Tax Credit.
However, they may be eligible for the Other Dependent credit of $500 with the issued ITIN by amending the 2021 tax return.
