It would be unusual to enter an additional W-2 and not have a change.
The original filing showed a refund. The amendment showed tax due.
I was manually inputting the 2nd W-2 when I filed originally. Took a break, and forgot to finish it.
I ran the Federal review when I originally filed and it passed. Of course I was excited about the refund at first, but didn't notice anything odd until I took another look at my AGI after the return had been accepted.
"Nothing has changed"
Your 1040-X shows tax due. you can make the payment here:
When you say nothing has changed, it seems as though it has changed. You went from a refund to a tax due. This is you paying back the part of the refund that you received erroneously.
So if you are not showing that you owe money after you entered the W-2 and their is a 1040X in your return, then it sounds like you have done this correctly.
What I meant when I said that, is the site still shows I have a refund coming. Not a balance due.
Wait for the original return to be completely processed and then submit the amended return. For 2024 you can still E-file it.
Thank you
