Are you saying that you filed your return already but did not enter the estimated payments you made during the year? I would wait to see if the IRS credits the payments before filing an amendment. When did you file your return?
No i didnt pay until after i filed and determined what i owed.
ie i filed in February and that determined that i owed $7000 in federal taxes.
since then i have made various payments to irs.gov that total $7k.
I guess will my tax return link up with my irs.gov payments?
Yes, if you used the IRS website to make the payments, I would assume that you were pretty much forced to indicate that the payments were for 2023 tax year.
HERE is a link to "Your IRS Account" which is a way for you to find all the information you need.
What you did is SOP - Standard Operating Procedure.
Unless IRS finds an error on your tax return, you will not hear from them again.
And FYI - Turbo Tax will always show the tax due. It isn't updated when or if you pay it. And the IRS doesn't update Turbo Tax when they get the payments. That's just the result on your tax return.
