The 1040 is your tax return that you are filling out . You enter your W2 and any 1099 forms you get. When you are done entering all your income and deductions and any dependents you go though the File tab and efile it to the IRS by hitting the big orange Transmit Return Now button.
Here is a blank 1040 form to see what you are filling out
Yeah - I don't have any W-2 forms or 1099 forms as I live overseas and am paid from a non-american entity. Turbo-tax is not letting me efile because it says I don't have a 1040 completed, but I don't see any way to add that. I used H&R block last year because it was more expat friendly. I just need to fill out this form so that I can file. If anyone who works at H&R Block can get in touch and help me
@elizabeth-ann-bass This is the user forum for TurboTax. No one at H & R Block is in this forum to reach out to you. With any tax software, you will be preparing a Form 1040. That is the tax return form used by any U.S. citizen to file a tax return.
If you entered information into TurboTax software, you prepared a Form 1040.
A 1040 is the tax return form you prepare here to send to the IRS. If you start entering data in this software you are preparing a Form 1040. Please look at it so you will know what you are sending to the IRS:
