I just filed my taxes but it’s only showing me the amount I owe rather than my full return. I mean did I even get any refund back?

Did you look at your actual tax returns?  Please look at them.  On your federal Form 1040 if you are getting a refund from the IRS it will be on line 20.   If you owe the IRS the amount owed is on line 23.  It cannot be both--either you get a federal refund or you do not --and you may owe.

Look at your state return form if you prepared a state return.  Since each state's forms are different we cannot tell you what line to look at on your state form but it should not be hard to spot whether the state form says you are getting a refund or if you owe.  Again--it cannot be both.

If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.

You must pay your state tax due using the state’s preferred method of receiving payment.  For most states that will be by making a payment to the state’s own tax website, or by mailing a check or money order.
