I forgot to add my ssdi income to my tax return. I started a part time job after 15 years. I disclosed that information. Do I need to amend the return?

I haven't had to file taxes in 15 years. My ssdi is over $500 a year. Do i need to include it on my taxes? or is it fine with just my pt job income/independent contactor job?

All of your 2024 income was supposed to be included on your 2024 return including any Social Security you received.   AFTER the return has been fully processed you will need to amend and add the SSA1099 for the SS you received.  Do not make any changes to your return at this time.  Wait.

Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

It is too soon to amend a 2024 tax return.   You have to wait until it has been fully processed by the IRS.  Sometimes the IRS catches and corrects mistakes you made.   And the Form 1040X you will need is not available yet. Amending too soon can cause confusion and long delays.

It depends.  If the IRS has not already processed your return, it is possible that they will catch the error and send you a letter stating that they are making a correction to your return because you left off income.  In this case, you will not need to do anything.

If the IRS has already processed your return, then yes, you will need to Amend Your Return and add the SSA-1099 to your return when the amended forms become available
