I filed with my husband last year as a dependent. Now trying to file single and it wants me to enter gross income. Do I enter our combined gross income last year?

It’s asking me to provide total gross income last year to verify it’s me. But I filed with my ex husband last year. Now since divorced I don’t know what to put it down as.

Even though your filing status changed, you will want to enter your full AGI from 2019. For more information see: What AGI should I enter if I'm recently divorced or widowed?

Did you file a Joint return last year?  Then you were not a dependent.  A spouse is never a dependent.  You just file a Joint return.

You need your 2019 AGI to efile 2020. The AGI is on 2019 1040 line 8b. If you filed a Joint return you use the same AGI for each spouse.

How to find the AGI.

If you didn't file 2019 or filed it later in the year then try entering 0 for the AGI. If that doesn't work you will have to print and mail your return.

Or request a transcript from the IRS
