There are two file options in TurboTax, file by mail and e-file. This sounds like you have chosen the file by mail option. So, if you meant to file by mail then you are responsible for mailing the return. The instruction on what to mail and where to send your tax return to is listed on your filing instruction page.

To get a copy of your Federal tax return along with the Filing Instructions page:

  1. Log into your TurboTax account
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page, click Add a State( you are not adding a state, this is just to get in the right menu)
  3. Over to the left, click Tax Tools dropdown
  4. Click the Print Center
  5. Click the Print, save or preview this year's return
  6. Check 2018 Federal returns
  7. Select Include government and TurboTax worksheets (optional)
  8. Then, click View or print forms, and the Filing Instructions page will be the very first page, read the entire page carefully. What you need to mail should be the listed under What you need to mail.

You would do the same to retrieve your state tax return along with the filing instruction page, but instead of checking 2018 federal returns, check the 2018 state returns.

If you did not mean to choose file by mail, please see this TurboTax FAQ, How do I change from mail to e-file in TurboTax Online?https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/5561257

If you don't see an option to change to e-file, this could mean that you have already e-filed. Here's how to tell:

When you click the File tab and you do see Filed for your federal and/or state on the "Great job on your taxes!" screen, this means that your tax returns have already been e-filed. So to check your e-file status, please visit this link:https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Your tax return will either be pending, rejected, or accepted. Here are the definitions:

Pending simply means that your e-filed return is on its way and that the government hasn't accepted or rejected the tax return.

Rejected means the IRS received your tax return, but return it because there are some errors that need fixing before the IRS can accept and process it.

Accepted means your return was received and the initial inspection (for example, the date of birth matched, social security numbers matched, dependents haven't been claimed, etc)  was passed. After the initial inspection, the IRS will then do a deeper inspection for other errors, owed debts, etc. If there are no issues, the IRS will approve the refund and provide you with an estimated refund date. This date will be provided on the IRS "Where's My Refund?
