I filed my 2011 form 1065 through Turbo Tax. I need a copy of it. I do not have Turbo Tax any longer. How do I recover this old return?

I filed my 2011 tax return for my business through Turbo Tax, likely using the CD.  This was 10 years ago so the CD is long gone, as is the original computer I used.  I have a copy saved on my current computer, but my computer is trying to open it through an app because it is not a pdf.  This tells me it is stored on Turbo Tax's servers some where.  Talking to a human at Turbo Tax is literally impossible.  So can anyone here help me?

The TurboTax Business Edition is only installed on a personal computer.

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

TurboTax does not have a copy of a tax return done on your computer - you have the only copy.     Even returns using the TurboTax online versions are only kept for 7 years and then destroyed  - the same as the IRS does.

Sorry Desktop returns are not stored or saved at Turbo Tax.  What file do you have?  Does it end in .tax or .tax2011?  You need the 2011 CD program installed to open it.  You should have also saved it as a pdf file.  You probably have to get a copy from the IRS.

If you have the .tax file there is a taxprinter service (not connected to Turbo Tax) to convert a tax file into a pdf but I think it only converts personal 1040 returns.

The file I have ends in .tax2011.  I have PDFs for every other year except for 2011.  Does ending in .tax2011 vs .tax have any significance?

No difference.  I just couldn't remember when they started adding the year to the end.  I think it was in 2008.

That can only be read by the 2011 software.
