Your question is unclear, but I'll try to answer it.

  • I expect that the $25 you paid was to electronically file a state tax return.
    • This will not be refunded. It's payment for the service of filling the return electronically
  • Filling your tax return electronically is faster than mailing it in.
  • I don't understand the comment "even though legally I can’t".

I PAID $25 FOR A 5 day early refund

TurboTax has NO control over the amount of time it can take the IRS to process your tax return and issue your refund.   TT gives you an estimated refund date based only on a 21 day average, which is not a promise from TT or the IRS.

Has the IRS accepted your e-file?

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Has the IRS processed your tax return and provided an issue date for the refund on the IRS refund site?   If so, count backwards on your calendar for those five days and hope for the best..

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

Are you subject to the PATH act which means if you are getting earned income credit or additional child tax credit they are required to hold your refund until February 15?

If you are subject to PATH, do not expect your refund before early March.  Be very pleasantly surprised it it comes sooner.

The "5 day early" offer says that if your refund does not come five days before the date the IRS gives you, you will not have to pay the $25.    Do not use the estimated date that TurboTax gave you for this.

In the print on TurboTax it actually States when you pay  the $25 for 5 days early refund that as soon as you're return shows  "accepted" by the IRS you can expect it usually 21 days from then and we guarantee to get it to you 5 days earlier than that and if we can't then you will not be charged! Which means you should be able to expect it within the 16 days from the accepted date! And with the child tax credit in the earned income credit tax being claimed that since they can't start sending them out legally until after February 15th then we should be expecting them around March 3rd so my question is will we be receiving it 5 days before that or will we automatically be refunded our actual cash and not some discount off next year's tax filing or something?

You should receive it 5 days earlier than the date you see on Where's My Refund.

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing of your return or the release of your refund.

Due to PATH Act, the IRS holds refunds for EITC/ACTC customers until March 3.

Here are a couple FAQs to track your refund:
When will I get my federal tax refund?
How do I track my state refund?
Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"?

Why do some refunds take longer than others?

What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?

Remember that the “”5 day early” date is based on the date given to you on the IRS refund site—-not the date the TT site shows in your account.   If your refund does not come in five days ahead of the IRS date, they are supposed to cancel the $25 fee.

I think the are asking about if they will get the $25 back for not being able file for the "5 days back early" - my sister just got a letter from you guys saying because she qualified for EIC & CTC she could not qualify for the "5 days back" - so does that mean they will get the $25 automatically back

If she does not get the refund five days earlier than the date on the IRS refund site, they should not charge the $25.

You should probably remove "Tax Expert" from your profile if you can't understand a SIMPLE question lol. TurboTax offers to give you your refund 5 days early if you pay a 25 dollar fee. They're wanting to know if that will apply to them since they have EIC and CTC.
