I cannot access my Turbotax software from my desktop. Please help as I need to verify some entries from 2024 return.

What happens? When you launch the 2024 desktop software, does it ask you for the 2024 license activation code? If so, do you have it?
I clicked on the Turbo Tax icon then an update prompt popped up. I click update but system did not download update. Nothing followed after.
I assume you're using the Windows version. Are you up to date with the Windows updates? You also mentioned "previous years." Is the same thing happening when you try to launch other years like 2023 from a desktop TurboTax icon?
I don't know what's causing it, but here's how I would initially attack the problem if it were me.
I'd restart the computer and launch TurboTax again. Is there still a problem?
If so, I'd right click on the TurboTax shortcut icon, and then select Properties, then Compatibility tab, and choose "Run as Administrator."
If it continues to happen, you can wait to see if anyone else has a suggestion in this forum, or we can tell you how to phone TurboTax Support.
"I need to verify some entries from my 2024 return."
Since you are trying to open the software, does that mean you don't have a 2024 PDF? If you have saved a PDF, then the software is not necessary to view the return.
I can access the 2024 Turbo Tax App now. I had to re-install the application and I will do the same with previous years as need arises. Thank you for your assistance.
All I can find is a short cut, no data files (2024 Bunn L Form 1040))

That's not much to go on, so without more info about your issue, here's some info in general on finding a *.tax2024 data file.
If you are using Windows the default location for the tax data files is the Documents\TurboTax folder. So look there first. Then, if necessary, perform a wildcard search on your entire system for any files ending in *.tax2024 and also look in the Recycle Bin and any external backup storage you have.
If you have more than 1 Windows user account on your computer such as a separate Admin account, log into each one to perform the searches inside each one. A couple of forum users have said their *.taxYYYY data file ended up in One Drive.
