I admened my return and I want to know why it hasn’t changed how much I will receive

First--change that tax return back to EXACTLY the way it was before you added that W-2 to it.  You should not have done that.

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox

Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return. The iRS will not be accepting or rejecting returns until January 29, so you will be waiting for a couple of weeks.   If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.

If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and mail it in. You will need to use a form called a 1040X. You cannot e-file an amended return.  They have to be mailed, and it takes at least 2-4 months for the IRS to process an amended return.  Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight.

We cannot see your return--what did you change when you amended?  And by "amended" do you mean that you prepared a 1040X that you are going to print sign and mail?

No I added a w2-form after I finished my taxes but it doesn’t show my new refund

"after I finished my taxes"--- do you mean after you e-filed?  When EXACTLY did you add the W-2?  And how did you do it?

Yes

So, yes this was on your 2017 return.  And had you already e-filed the return before you added that W-2?
