I did it back on the 8th. Everytime I check I get that one screen people are claiming....According to the info we have on file we can't determine for a payment at this time. Thousands of people on facebook said they are getting the same message. I do qualify as does my wife so I'm confused.
Where do I put my question?
I have the exact same scenario as @ellalwalsh27 :
I e-filed my federal taxes via credit karma and they were accepted. I want to file my state returns (i have two) but every site says I have to file my federal with them. I was wondering, could I efile my federal and state returns via Turbotax and the federal just get rejected but my state go through since I already have my federal filed? Or do I have to print out my state returns and mail them at this point?
What did you end up doing? With everything closed due to Covid, states are strongly encouraging e-filing. Even if I were to mail a paper return, I'd want to use certified mail w/return receipt, which is a huge hassle to send from home.
No.
If you end up using TurboTax for your remaining state return, you will need to mail it in. You can only e-file your state return in TurboTax if you used the same file to E-file your federal return.

did the IRS take higher refund? I filed with one tax provider yesterday and wanted to see if I would get the same amount and got a much higher amount with the second tax preparation place.
The IRS will only accept 1 return. You have to wait until the IRS opens on Feb 12 to see which one gets accepted first. The other one will reject.
No they took the one that was submitted first!!
How do you know yet? The IRS is not taking returns until Feb 12. If your second one didn't get transmitted then something was wrong with it.
This happened to me last year that’s how I know
I filed yesterday and received an email just that it was submitted. I didn’t use the 2019 tax relief (or whatever it’s called). I wanted to see if I would get the same amount so I tried HR block today and got 2k more.
If you already efiled and the return is PENDING then there is nothing you can or need to do ... if you left off the stimulus credit then the IRS will be correcting that for you automatically ... do NOT try to file again or make any changes to the return you already filed.
So I just read your post. I did the same thing. I filed my Federal Taxes twice electronically but have two different refund amounts bcuz on one I didn't claim the earned income credit. Will one of them be accepted and the other be rejected
So even though I filed my Federal Taxes return twice electronically. One of them will be accepted and the other will be rejected
Correct ... the first one thru the gate will be accepted and any others will automatically be rejected. Which one will be first is unknown until you get the acceptance/rejection notices.
Which one did you do first ?
I did the same thing by accident.
