I accidentally claimed Exempt on w-4. so obviously I'm going to owe taxes. Does that come straight out of the return?

I had the same issue where I put exempt on my w-4 on accident but still got the returns for EIC on both of my kids. What should I be owing?

@onelove411 No one can see any of your information so no one can tell you if you will owe anything.  We do not even know what tax years you are asking about.   Are you asking about your 2020 tax return or are you asking what to expect for 2021?   Have you changed your W-4 yet so that tax is being withheld from your pay?

@vatey86 We cannot answer your question since you have not provided any other information about how much you earned, your filing status, whether you have dependents, etc.   Use the taxcaster tool to get an estimate:

hello

my company recently switch paying program from paychex to ADP upon registering i entered exempt and was supposed to go back to change to 0 allowance/dependence to have my tax withheld to max. i just recieved my paycheck and realized i recieved more than usual due to the exempt. once i realized i went to update my w4 form to 0. will I Owe back taxes ?

@vatey86 Again----we cannot see your wages or any of your information.   We cannot tell you if you are going to owe tax.   Use the taxcaster tool to get an estimate or prepare a tax return, enter your W-2 when you receive it --- and find out.

If you are asking about your W-4 for 2022---the year that just began, then fixing your W-4 will probably help you and prevent a problem for next year when you file a 2022 tax return.
