How to file prior year state returns

You cannot use TurboTax Online to file for past years. You will have to use the CD/Download TurboTax software for each year that you need. You can purchase downloads at the following link.

Past Years' Products

The state tax return is based on the federal return. In order to prepare the state return with TurboTax you have to have the federal return in the CD/Download software. You will have to download the .tax20yy file from TurboTax Online for each year that you need, and open it in the CD/Download software. You can follow the instructions in the following FAQ.

How do I finish a prior-year return that I started in TurboTax Online?

Tax returns for past years cannot be e-filed. You will have to print each state tax return, sign it, and file it by mail. Mail each year in a separate envelope. Do not mail two tax returns in the same envelope. We suggest that you mail them by certified mail with a return receipt so that you get tracking and confirmation of delivery. Follow the filing instructions that TurboTax prints.

And...you have not mentioned what tax years you are trying to work on. The CD/download is available  for years as far back as 2020, but anything earlier, like 2019--is no longer available nor is it supported even if you can find it on eBay, etc.
