The IRS knows that the 3rd stimulus payment was sent to you. They will adjust your tax return accordingly and remove the Recovery Rebate Credit from your tax return. If you are owed a tax refund this will delay the refund by several weeks or longer.
You do not need to amend the 2021 tax return.
The thing is I did not receive the third stimulus check, and after I had done my tax return with turbox tax about a month ago, I received a letter from IRS saying I should report the amount (EIP) on the 2021 tax return to determine whether I'm eligible to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit.
I completed the 2021 taxes and I have received the refund, but it is not from the IRS. It was from using Turbo Tax and we received a deposit from TPG Products. When I did my taxes I assumed I had received the EIP for $1400 as stated in the letter from IRS 6475. It says "the Internalk Revenue Service (IRS) issued you 2021 Economic Impact Payments for the following amount" - The "Total 2021 Economic Impact Paymnets:$1,400.00."
I have searched all my banking statements and records and can not find any record of receiving that money so I assume I need to file a amended return or something. But Turbo Tax offers no method of doing that.
Can you please let me know what I need to do?
Thankyou
Dwight Pelton
If you got IRS letter 6475 then they show they sent you the 1,400 Stimulus payment. If the IRS thinks they sent it to you but you didn't get it request a trace for a missing third Stimulus payment
