It's probably okay to dispose of it, but I suggest keeping it until April 2022 (6 years after you filed) just to play safe. While the basic statute of limitations for IRS audits is 3 years after you filed, they can go back 6 years if they think there was a major underreporting of income.

Sometimes lenders (especially if you are self-employed) want to see several years of returns.
Or you have rental property, and need to check prior depreciation, etc.
