in the email that i got, it says at the bottom:
Don't have a copy of your tax returns for your records yet?
We'd be happy to help. Simply sign in to TurboTax to print and save your returns by October 20 (recommended).
why does it want me to print and save a copy by oct 20? does this mean they will NOT keep a copy of my tax return online after this date?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
The IRS and TurboTax will save your returns for seven years. After that they are gone.
But we see people all the time who forget how to access old accounts, etc. Saving your return and keeping a copy for yourself is a good idea.
SAVE YOUR TAX RETURN !
EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

It says to save it by October 20 because that's when TurboTax Online will shut down for a couple of months to transition from 2021 to 2022 tax returns. During that transition time you will not be able to access your 2021 tax return online. It will be accessible again starting sometime in December.
But don't wait until the last minute. Save it now, while it's on your mind.
